Pembrokeshire Football League secretary resigns

Western Telegraph: SURPRISE EXIT: Brian Hawkins has resigned as Pembrokeshire Football League secretary. SURPRISE EXIT: Brian Hawkins has resigned as Pembrokeshire Football League secretary.

Pembrokeshire Football League secretary Brian Hawkins has resigned from his position with league council.

It has come as shock news as he’s held the position for the past nine seasons, but has released a statement pointing out his reasons for stepping aside with increasing work and personal commitments.

Hawkins said: “I have decided to stand down from all league council duties, I will of course continue until the AGM. This has not been an easy decision as I have built a great friendship with all my fellow officers but feel I can no longer give the time needed to carry out the duties required and feel this is the right time to stand down.

“I would like to thank all Council members for their help and support over the years – together with their full support as a referee for the previous 15 seasons.

“Special thanks must go to Phil Devonald, Micky Phillips, Trevor Morgans, Eddie Oliver and Keith Scourfield who have provided me with invaluable assistance during this time and have always been there to provide help and guidance.”

He thanked clubs, secretaries, players, referees and all involved with Pembrokeshire football for their help over this period and also thanked the local press.
