Llangwm (189 all out) beat Hook (116 all out) by 73 runs

AN excellent performance with bat and ball by Chris Inward helped set up Llangwm for a win over neighbours Hook at a Pill Parks full of colour as the village held its annual carnival and fete.

But it was Inward who created the excitement on the field as he top scored with a hard-hitting 66 not out that helped Llangwm to 189 all out and then grabbed 3 for 18 to reduce Hook to a less than satisfactory 116 all out.

Llangwm’s batting looked decidedly shaky as Hook’s Brennan Martin (3 for 30) and Bradley Flood (2 for 26) helped reduce them to 28 for 4 and 56 for 5 before Richard Brock and Inward pulled Llangwm back into contention.

Only James Venables (with 14 before he was run out) managed double figures until Brock belted 61 in 77 balls, including 12 sixes, before he was bowled by Dai Hopkins (who finished with 2 for 27). But it was Inward who provided the real impetus as he came in at No 7 and smashed three fours and six sixes in his 66 not out, reaching his fifty in 34 balls and his final score coming from only 50 deliveries.

Harry Morris (23), Jake Wicks (21) and Bradley Flood (18 not out) were the only batsmen in double figures for Hook as Inward was joined by Luke Brock (4 for 34) and Richard Brock (2 for 1) as they got really on top, and remain in the race for promotion as their reward.

Umpires: Allan Hansen & Arthur Brady.

Scorers: Janice Brick & Chris Holder.
