St Ishmaels (208 for 6) lost to Llanrhian (209 for 7) by 3 wickets

THERE were runs galore at St Ishmaels as the home side mustered a strong 208 for 6 in their allotted 45 overs but were unable to prevent Llanrhian winning an entertaining tussle with three wickets and 15 balls to spare.

St Ishmaels got off to a solid start via Peter Bradshaw (24) and Dan Howells, who also shared a partnership of 110 for the third wicket with Phil Cockburn (46, including five fours) – with Howells looking assured of a century as he sped to 93, including 15 fours, a five and a six, but was then caught in the deep by Llanrhian skipper Geraint Morris off Luke Jones’ bowling.

Tish skipper Johnny Pawlett chipped in with a late 18 as Cristo Arundel picked up 4 for 73 alongside Luke Jones (2 for 48) and Gareth Davies (1 for 41) in the Llanrhian cause.

Llanrhian began their reply in positive mode as Matthew Arundel scored 43 (seven fours and a six) in a stand of 90 with Gareth Davies, who reached 74 (11 boundaries) before he was run out.

Jack Jones (18) and skipper Morris (25) were also involved for Llanrhian before Ben Jones struck the winning boundary as Andrew Williams (4 for 35) and Andrew Pawlett (2 for 59) were the only Tish wicket-takers.

Umpires: Allan Hansen & Dave Loosmore.

Scorers: Wendy Bradshaw & Fraser Watson.
