WHITLAND Ladies RFC will celebrate their ten year anniversary on Bank Holiday Sunday, August 27.

The squad will host a special afternoon of ‘Prosecco, high tea and entertainment’ at the club, with all guests and visitors welcome.

They are one of just two ladies club sides to have lasted a full decade, and have gone from strength to strength in that period.

In 2012 they won the Women's WRU Plate, and the following season, won Division One and gained promotion to the Premiership, and have stayed there since.

They finished runners up in the top flight in the 2014/15 campaign, and in April 2016, were beaten by Skewen in their first ever Super Cup final appearance in Bedwas.

“We would not have lasted if it wasn’t for the support of the senior club, including Dai John who was there at the start, Arwyn Thomas and present chairman Jason Bowen,” added Sue.

“This is day for all players and coaches present and past, as well as all sponsors and supporters,” said team manager Sue Davies.

“There is no cost but we will be doing a raffle on the day.”

The squad will also celebrate Amy Morgan, Lleucu George, Maisie Mackenzie and Caitlin Lewis being part of the Wales Under 18s 7s side that won a bronze medal in the recent Commonwealth Youth games in the Bahamas.

Furthermore, Lleucu and Sioned Harries have been named in the Welsh Women’s squad for the World Cup in Ireland, with Wales playing today (Wednesday) against New Zealand at 2.45pm. It’s Sioned’s third World Cup but Lleucu’s first.
