WRU National League fixtures for our Pembrokeshire sides for Saturday, January 6th (2.30pm):

WRU National Cup Round One:

Narberth v Bedwas

The Otters have seven wins and a draw from their last eight league matches - and came through what was expected to be a very difficult test at Newcastle Emlyn last week.

The fact that outside backs Liam Hutchings and Jack Parkinson shared three of their four tries was a sign of their confidence, as even at this time of the year, they are not afraid to attack out wide or mix it up front.

But tomorrow will be a different test all together - an enticing Cup tie at home to Principality Premiership side Bedwas.

The visitors were third in their 'East' League before the two top tiers merged after Christmas, winning nine of their 14 games.

But Narberth have nothing to fear and indeed, nothing to lose, and there should be a big crowd at the Lewis Lloyd crowd to cheer them on. If they can get amongst the Caerphilly side early on, then anything can happen.

From the win at Emlyn, Moritz Neumann (wing), Rhodri Owens (hooker) and Tom Powell (flanker) come into the starting XV.

Narberth: Nick Gale, Liam Hutchings, Kieran Jones, Paul Davies, Moritz Neumann, Jonathan Rogers, Lewys Gibby, Bradley Davies, Rhodri Owens, Tom Slater, Jake Simm, Alex Jenkins (capt), Dewi Williams, Tom Powell, Steffan Phillips.

Replacements: Dan Smith, Kyle Hamer, Ryan Banner, Richard Rees, Rhys Lane, Ianto Griffiths, Jack Parkinson.

Division One West:

Gorseinon v Crymych

The simple equation for Crymych now is they have to start winning or they will be relegated to Division Two West.

It won't be easy away to fifth placed Gorseinon, who have six wins from their 10 games, and Randall Williams has to find a way to get his side to click and cut the 10 point gap between them and safety.

Centre Carwyn Phillips scored their only try in the 27-7 defeat at Aberystwyth last Saturday, but with pitches again likely to be heavy, it is up front where most of the key battles will take place tomorrow.

The Preseli Men will have to dig deep, and if they can, it will be a real boost ahead of massive games with the two sides above them, Tycroes and Llanelli Wanderers, later this month.

Penclawdd v Tenby United

Any relegations fears The Seasiders had have been eased with three consecutive league wins - and Saturday's 58-22 hammering of Kidwelly represented their best display of the season to date.

The return of Pat Roberts from Narberth, albeit as a centre, has been a boost and brothers Matty and Jonathan Morgan are excelling as half backs.

So they can go to Penclawdd with real confidence tomorrow, against a side just two places, and three points above them.

The Cocklemen were beaten 31-15 at Gowerton last week, and if Tenby can maintain their recent standards, they will return with a fourth straight league win.

Division Two West:

Fishguard v Llanybydder

A waterlogged pitch scuppered Fishguard at Carmarthen Athletic last week, but here is another game they have to target.

They beat the same side away 16-12 earlier in the season, and the Carmarthen team are bottom with just two wins in 11 league matches.

The Seagulls have struggled to field a settled side in this campaign, but beat St Clears 16-5 at home before Christmas and if they can name a strong XV here, you'd fancy them to notch another win on The Moors.

Fishguard squad: Jason Davies, Ryan McVeigh, Neil Perkins, Gavin Walsh (capt), Liam Wilkes, Luke Freebury, Jac Evans, Richard Hunter, Jordan James, Simon James, Chris Shousha, Alun George, Andrew Williams, Gareth Adamson, Mike Jenkins, Ben John, Thomas George, Edward Bendall, Dai Evans.

Pontyberem v St Clears

It has been four league losses in a row for St Clears, and they need to start picking up points or they will be in a dogfight to stay up between now and April.

They showed real fighting spirit against rivals Whitland before losing 17-3, but it is easy to get up for a derby and they must show the same commitment tomorrow against a Pontyberem side who ended the season with a 21-26 home defeat to relegation threatened Tumble.

That result has no helped the Carmarthenshire Saints, but should at least give Mike Jones and his players the confidence to know they too can get a result in Llanelli tomorrow.

Whitland v Carmarthen Athletic

It's a second big derby in two weeks for The Borderers - with the bigger picture being they now lie second and are very much in both the promotion and title race.

The Parc Llwyn Ty Gwyn is notoriously heavy this time of the year, so running rugby may be at a premium and the experience of the likes of Jack Mason, Raff Williams and skipper Marc Jones will be critical for them up front.

But they came through a war of attrition at St Clears, and earlier in the season won 6-3 at Athletic in terrible conditions. Indeed, for the first time in many seasons, have shown a recent nous for winning tight contests.

The home side have some in-form backs with Josh Thomas currently impressing in the centre and the speed of Sean Coles always a threat out wide, but I expect the pack and No 10 Nico Setaro will keep this one tight. And if they perform, they should have enough to stay in the top two with a win.

Whitland: Scott Newton, Liam Price, Jonathan Thomas, Josh Thomas, Aaron Ebsworth, Nico Setaro, Adam Davies, Aaron Mayne, Marc Jones, Michael Ryan, Raff Williams, Micaiah Jones, Ben Kirk, Ryan Morgan, Jack Mason.

Replacements: Gethin Lewis, Kevin Allen, Tomos Evans, Tom Parry, Scott Candler.

Division Three West A:

Haverfordwest v Llangwm

With the top two playing each other, Haverfordwest will view this as a vital chance to gain ground as they look to hang on to their title hopes.

They came through a fierce test to beat The Wasps 20-7 in the Bishop Cup on Boxing Day, but I suspect they will have to target a bigger win and four tries at home tomorrow - and will want the in-form Liam Manwaring to get ball in hand whenever possible.

That may play into Llangwm's hands, but the visitors now have a huge task to pick themselves up going into 2018.

Understandably, they put everything into their Bishop Cup clash before another titanic battle with St Davids, which they lost 12-5 in the final minute having pressed for much of the second half.

That would have been a huge body blow and one of their key performers that day, Ollie Hughes, was on permit from The Blues and likely to line up against them tomorrow.

But others like No 8 Josh Hicks, veteran flanker Ian Griffiths, and No 10 Luke Hayman also impressed over the two games - and The Wasps will need their key men to continue to stand up, or a long second half of the season awaits.

Laugharne v Aberaeron

Laugharne have not been spoken about in the title race - mainly because they have not played enough league games to be in the top two.

But the fact is they have lost just once in their six matches, and if they capitalise on their games in hand, they will be in the picture come end of the season.

Their thrilling 36-35 win over Milford Haven before Christmas again showcased their ability to score points, although they will be tested up front tomorrow by a powerful Aberaeron.

The visitors themselves have crept quietly into third, and with Rhodri Jenkins a controlling influence at outside half, they also have pace out wide.

This one could be a clash of high intensity - and whoever wins, will then have to be taken seriously in the race for top spot.

Pembroke v Milford Haven - Telegraph Sport understands this clash has been postponed due to a bereavement within the Milford camp. The WRU are set to confirm later today.

St Davids v Cardigan

This fixture ironically also took place this exact time last season, with The Teifisiders prevailing by more than 90 points.

But The Saints are in much better shape this time around. A competitive display against Aberaeron before Christmas was followed by a vital 12-5 win at Llangwm on Saturday.

The return of Scott James from Tenby has coincided with some young players emerging and previously injured ones returning, and Mathew Williams and Anthony Davies will want their side to push on during January.

However, The Teifisiders, who have also been boosted by the return of Marcus Castle from Crymych - go in off the back of hard fought wins over Pembroke Dock Quins and Tregaron.

After an up and down campaign, Colin Davies may feel his side are putting a consistent run together heading into 2018, and won't be complacent despite seeing off The Saints 43-17 at home earlier in the season.

That game actually stood at 17-10 half time, so The Saints will know if nothing else, they need an 80 minute display this time around to have any chance.

Tregaron v Pembroke Dock Quins - match postponed
