BOTH the Men’s and Women’s teams at Haverfordwest Tennis Club have won promotion in their Summer League.

The women’s side competed in the Premier 2 Ladies League - and duly won it to secure a spot in the top flight of tennis in South Wales in 2019.
And the squad had to come through several tough tests to do so, playing renowned sides like Penarth Windsor 1, Swansea 1, and Alt yr Yn 1.

The team consisted of Sarah Keogh, Laura Davies, Jane Allen, Amy waters, Sandra crowther and Alison Lewis.

The men meanwhile, played in the Summer 2 Pairs League - and actually finished undefeated over the season.

They played eight matches in all at venues across South Wales - such as tennis clubs at Barry, Rhondda, Glamorgan, Glynneath, Llantwit Major, Garw Valley, Crickhowell, and Carmarthen.

And out of their eight matches, they won seven of them, with only a draw against Carmarthen stopping them from notching a 100% record.

The squad was made up from Richard Price, Nathan Jones, Gareth Robinson, Joe Colwill, Adam Colwill,Yan Morris, Dean Richards, Hardijs, Richard Davies, Dan Cole, Rod Evers, Andre Thompson and player captain Louis Warren.

Indeed, the latter was vital to the success, proving very organised in getting a squad together and organising fixtures and selection.

The Winter Leagues will now begin in September and both the Men’s and Women’s teams will be back in action - and any new members interested in joining can visit www.Haverfordwesttennis.com.
