Fishguard & Goodwick Men made the long trip to Cwmbran to play Gwent 4 and played out a highly entertaining 2-2 draw.

With Gwent being a development side and no points available for the fixture both sides took the chance to experiment with tactical setups, and the visitors had a new captain for the day as Tyler Boston-Williams became the youngest player ever to captain the senior men’s side. The hosts opened stronger as Gwent started quickly with an early spell of dominance, but the visitors started to take a foothold in the game, linking up and creating opportunities pursuing an opener. It was Gwent who opened the scoring however, with a run of short corners finally culminating in a well taken shot going in at the far post. Undeterred, the visitors responded and forced the home keeper into action but went in behind at the break.

The second half began with the visitors pushing to equalise, but were unable to score and after a swift Gwent counterattack they were awarded a penalty flick after Harri Morris brought down their attacker. However, he dusted himself off and made a fine save to keep the score at 1-0. This was a turning point in the game and after a period of sustained pressure the visitors finally equalised with Isaac Davies scoring a well-taken finish, and then continued the push. In the last ten minutes Fishguard & Goodwick took the lead as Stephen Kendrick found Isaac Davies to add his second. Both teams pushed for another, but after chances at both ends it was Gwent who scored next, squeezing a shot in at the near post in the final moments. From the restart, the visitors pushed for a winner but were denied after a rapid attack and an entertaining game ended two apiece.
