Neyland 3
Johnstown 1

Neyland caused an upset by deservedly defeating Carmarthenshire Premier outfit Johnstown at home to progress to the next round of the West Wales Intermediate Cup.

This cup clash had been postponed twice because of the heavy rain. The cup-tie was switched and Neyland took full advantage.

The hosts took the lead in the 15th minute. Nathan Warlow and Paul Hannon combined to set up Aaron McQuillan who struck his effort into the top corner.

The best goal of this absorbing cup-tie came five minutes later. Nomads’ goalkeeper Patrick Hannon punted the ball the length of the pitch, only for it to bounce over Johnstown’s keeper and into the net. Hannon duly celebrated by running the full perimeter of the pitch.

On the hour mark and Wayne Parry added a third to put the result of this cup-tie beyond doubt, despite the visitors claiming a consolation 83rd minute effort.

Neyland travel to face Morriston Town in the next round which takes place this Saturday.
