Lawrenny (124 all out) lost to Herbrandston (136 all out) Talented teenager Nathan Banner guided Herbrandston to an excellent 12-run win against Lawrenny.

Banner top scored in the Herbie innings and then grabbed five wickets alongside a four-wicket haul by skipper Kristan Bennett to earn them 29 welcome league points.

Taking Herbrandston to a respectable tally of 137 all out were Banner, again top scorer with 37 (three fours and a six) before he was adjudged lbw to Ian Jenkins, and Leigh Marchant (32), who was bowled by Steve Lewis.

In a tight spell Lewis claim two for 18 in 12 overs, half of them maidens, to go with an excellent running catch on the boundary rope.

Jonty Bennett (17) and Gary Davies (15) also added a few runs for Herbie as canny slow bowler Ian Jenkins finished with 5 for 26 in his 12-over stint and pace man Rob Williams returned figures of 3 for 41 in his nine-over spell.

Lawrenny lost Andrew Cole and Huw Griffiths for just a run between them, and although Steve Lewis (25) and Rob Williams (20 not out) batted well, they were always under pressure against Banner (5 for 24 in 9.3 overs) and Bennett (4 for 39 in 12 overs).

Brad Jenkins (17) and Steve Campbell (16) also chipped in with runs for Lawrenny, but they were unable to stay long enough and Herbie celebrated victory in style.
