Nina Wheeler from Hundleton is heading to Korea for the World Deaf Badminton Champion-ships.

Nina has been selected in the UK squad for the tournament in May. The team are hoping to perform well enough to qualify for the 2013 Deaf Olympics in Athens.

She only took up the sport a few years ago, but gained selection after coming through a UK trial in Hull in February.

It is not the first time Nina has excelled in sport. Despite being born with a severe hearing impediment, she represented Pembrokeshire in hockey as a youngster and used to play cricket for Cresselly ladies team.

The trip is not funded and Nina is currently looking for sponsorship to help cover her costs. Anyone interested in making a donation to help can contact her on 01646 686976 or nina_ruth_wheeler@hotmail.com.
