Whitland (233 for 6) beat St Ishmaels (180 all out)
Whitland started their new season well as they beat St Ishmaels by 53 runs in a match where both teams had new captains who performed well.

Matthew ‘Titch’ Davies scored a quick-fire 22 not out at the end of the Whitland innings, including two sixes, and claimed 4 for 19 with his bowling, whilst Andrew Palmer was last out for Tish on 84 as he battled manfully to hold their innings together.

Put in to bat, Whitland had a classy 69 from Ed John (11 fours and a six) alongside supporting innings by Dai Lee and Paul Davies (both with 42), plus David Dunfee (22) and Iestyn Scourfield 13.

For Tish, the pick of their bowling came from Andrew Williams (2 for 48), Danny Flynn (2 for 50), Andrew Pawlett (1 for 56) and Lenny Rees (1 for 44).

Andrew Palmer struck 15 boundaries in his 84 runs before he was bowled by Mark Lee, who bowled well along with skipper Davies and Dan James (2 for 12).

Other Tish batsmen in the runs were Peter Bradshaw (34), Phil Cockburn (21) and Jonathan Pawlett (16) but no-one stayed long enough alongside Palmer as Whitland were good value for victory.

The St Ishmaels match ball was sponsored by Jean and Tony Williams.
