Neyland (114 all out) lost to Haverfordwest (120 for 4)
Haverfordwest gained their first victory of the season as they fended off a strong challenge from second-placed Neyland at the Athletic Ground.

Simon Holliday once again showed his batting prowess in remaining undefeated for The Town after they had looked decidedly shaky at 20 for 3 in pursuit of Neyland’s 114 all out.

Put in to bat first, Neyland lurched to 80 for 8 before they had late runs from Andrew Slark (three fours and a huge pull for six in his 28) and 13 year old Scott Jones so that Neyland could advance their tally to a more reasonable 114 all out. Ashley Sutton (24) also batted well whilst Gregg Miller and Paul Murray had 10 runs apiece against tight bowling by Adam James (4 for 41), Nathan Banner (2 for 20), Dai Davies (1 for 17), Clive Tucker (1-13) and Simon Holliday (2 for 5).

The home side again showed their willingness to fight hard as a team, with Henry Durrant and Patrick Hannon bowling good spells at the start of the innings, with Danny Potter run out without scoring and Durrant shifting Ben Field and Nathan Banner in his 2 for 31 analysis. Holliday then found a willing ally in Dai Davies, who provided the ideal support with three fours in his 33 before he tried to hit a six to gain an extra bonus point and was bowled by talented teenage leg-spinner Scott Jones. By then, Holliday had struck seven fours and two sixes en route to 65 not out – and Richard James came in feeling groggy with a touch of flu and belted his first ball over the boundary rope to secure a good victory for The Town against their old adversaries!
