Joe Allen has set his sights on a regular place in the Wales starting line up following Friday’s 2-0 win against Switzerland.
The 21-year-old has impressed in Swansea’s last two Premier League games, away against Chelsea and at home to Stoke, and was rewarded with a first international start at the Liberty Stadium.
Gary Speed’s men won 2-0 thanks to goals from Aaron Ramsey and Gareth Bale, with Allen one of the key performers in midfield.
“To be an international regular has always been my aim but it’s a massive task, both for Wales and at club level,” said Allen.
“But it’s a target I’m striving to achieve. We have a lot of very good players in the Welsh squad, so it’s a case of always working hard and enjoying what I am doing.”
Fittingly, the game took place in Swansea and Allen said it was a “fantastic” night.
“It does not get that much better. It was a thrill.”
Following on from the Swiss win Wales beat Bulgaria 0-1 thanks to Gareth Bale's solitary strike. Allen once again played a key role in the heart of midfield in Sofia.
