Whitland (97 for 5) beat Cresselly (95 all out)
CRESSELLY’S disappointing start to the new season continued as they conceded a fivewicket defeat to Whitland after batting first and only managing to score 95 all out.
Only Phil Williams (17), Alex Bailey (12) and Nick Davies (29) could muster double figures among the Cresselly batsmen as David Dunfee spear-headed the home attack with 5 for 42 from his 9.3 overs, with support from Mark Lee, who had seven maidens as he claimed 2 for 11 in 12 typically miserly overs, Dan James (1 for 26) and Iestyn Scourfield (1 for 9).
Paul Davies (29), Dylan Blain (16) and Dai Lee (15) made sure that Whitland got off to a solid response against Lyn Richards (1 for 23), Matthew Morgan (1 for 14) and Bobby Webb (2 for 22).
Owain Evans rounded things off with 19 not out as Scourfield was also undefeated in a comfortable five-wicket success for Whitland.
Umpires: Rob Bellerby and Peter Perry.
Scorers: Janice Webb and Dave Richards.
