Harrison-Allen Bowl semi-final

Haverfordwest (120-9) beat St Ishmaels (99-9)

ST Ishmaels finished 20 runs short of their target against Haverfordwest, and must have felt gutted at the end to miss out on a cup final appearance after putting themselves in a decent position.

This eagerly awaited Bowl semi-final took place on Tuesday evening at Carew Cricket Club, the Town won the toss and batted first, and Tish must have felt relatively confident after they restricted one of the cup favourites to 120 runs after 22 overs.

However, Tish got off to a poor start with the bat, losing early wickets, and found themselves always behind the runs chase as the pressure mounted.

The Town opened the batting with the reliable Simon ‘Doc’ Holliday who was removed for 25 runs, but they still found momentum as Dan Cole (33) and experienced Gareth Davies (31) kept the scoreboard ticking.

Tish bowled a tight line and length with Andrew Palmer (3-18), Danny Flynn (3-20), Dean John (2-31) and Andy Pawlett (1-30) snapping up the Town wickets.

In reply, Tish lost early wickets as paceman Adam James (3-27) terrorised, but Andrew Williams (24), batted defiantly with Tish’s Andrew Palmer (18), Peter Bradshaw (12), Brennan Devonald (10) and Jonathan Pawlett (10) all reaching double figures.

But some astute bowling by Holliday (3-18), Gareth Davies (2-18) and Adeel Khan (1-36) took wickets as the Town secured a thoroughly deserved victory.

Haverfordwest will play the winners of the Llangwm v Cresselly tie in the final.

The Bowl final will be held on Saturday, July 30, and will be held at Cresselly Cricket Club.
