DT Pearce Cup Final:

Mark Stanley’s 42 point win in the first frame laid the foundation for the Power Station B to claim the D T Pearce final at the Balfour Club last week.

Playing Martin Davies of Hook Sports, Mark produced a fine potting display with breaks of 24 and 14 to set his team on the way to victory in the two double and two single frame aggregate score final.

Lee Goldsmith and Paul Bevan (Power Station) gained an early lead in the second frame against John Davies and Tim Cox (Hook).

The Hook pair got themselves back into the frame only for Lee and Paul to lay a number of snookers and gain the initiative again. But the Hook pair dug in and potted most of the high scoring colours to win the frame by four.

The second singles frame saw former second division singles champion Matthew Holder (Hook) play experienced campaigner Mike Rees. It was nip and tuck all the way with no breaks, and it was Mike who kept a cool head and won the frame by five.

With a 40-odd point deficit going into the final frame, Paul Llewellyn and Chris Holder (Hook) did all they could to pull back the points, but Richard Thomas and Paul Murray went about their business calmly and the Hook pair conceded when all hope was lost.

Malcolm King and Ian Ashworth were in charge of proceedings.
