Locally-owned Loughkeen Dancing Lord triumphed at the recent Horse of the Year Show. The seven year-old – known at home as Ben – owned by Bernie White and Dave Harries, of Hayes Farm, Milton, now holds the title of heavyweight hunter of the year. Bernie said: “He’s been fabulous. We’re delighted, he’s done really well this year.” Produced and ridden by showing legend Robert Oliver, pictured with Ben after their big win, the pure-bred Irish Draft has had a very successful year, winning classes at events such as the Royal Welsh, Monmouth and the National Hunter Show. He has been owned by Bernie and Dave for just over a year. The couple, who are well-known on the local show circuit with their horses and their commercial beef cattle and Belgian Blues, say Ben has a calm temperament and real show ring presence.

This series of evaluations help to identify British bred, young potential sport horses that are destined for careers as dressage horses, eventers, show jumpers, endurance horses and sports ponies, and could discover potential sports horses and ponies that become future Olympic or British team stars.
